You may have noticed some changes to the website. We are so excited to open our doors to the SHABBY GREEN DOOR, a new division of DAISY BUCKET DESIGNS and the debut of our first collection, FARMERS MARKET.

A few months ago, I was inspired by an artist that shared her journey of moving and how that inspired her to recreate a new look and feel for her home. She brought along many of her favorite treasures but chose to repurpose items to fit into their new home. Changing color pallets, putting furniture pieces in rooms they had never been in, and choosing new artwork. She essentially decided to recreate a new space that reflected where they were in their lives now.
As our lives change from season to season, so do we. We grow and become more than we were yesterday. SHABBY GREEN DOOR is that expression of where we are going creatively. Looking at the world around us and seeing things a bit different. Looking for fresh looks with classic style. We hope you will walk through our door and join us as we unlock the door to CREATIVITY and find new inspiration!

… not the usual color combination for a scrapbook layout? That was my initial reaction too when I received this challenge from an online contest I joined recently.
But after reading the requirements of the challenge, I knew exactly what papers and embellishments to use. I have them all with me in my stash. I feel so lucky having my Daisy Bucket papers. DBD has a number of brown papers (in different shades) and even papers that has both brown and white on it!!!
Here’s what I came up with:

To make my layout, I used white cardstock as the base. I was inspired by the circles of the Very Merry paper so I decided to cut all the brown and white circles. I then used the same circle as a pattern.

Other papers I used for this layout are: Merry Wishes-Deck the Halls, In the Meadow-McKenna, Celeste; Sweet Marabella-Francesca, Loves Me, Loves Me Not-Pieces of my Heart. I love the loops from the Merry Wishes collection. Even though I had to handcut each loop, it was all worth it. I also love McKenna, it reminds me of animal spots and it makes me want to make a zoo layout.
The papers come from different lines as you see. Merry Wishes is a Christmas collection by the way while Loves Me, Loves Me Not is a Valentine/Love themed collection. The papers are designed so that scrappers like us will no longer have a hard time mixing and matching papers from across the lines : )
To finish off my layout, I embellished the circles and photos with rub ons (Words #9028) in brown colors, whiteVelvet flowers, and white and brown paper ribbons (Polka Dot Chocolate #7715). I added my journaling around the circles (another fun way to write the journaling) in brown ink too.
I really had creating this layout. Sometimes, it’s good to try out a different color combination, don’t you think?
Happy scrapping!

Daisy Bucket released their MY LITTLE MONSTERS collection several months ago… and it’s such an ADORABLE collection too, kristi really outdid herself!
when my lss got the line in, i did a sample layout for them using it. i took the layout down quite awhile ago, as the paper sold out QUICKLY, and it’s been sitting here, waiting for me to put photos on it ever since. and it’s been sitting, and sitting, and sitting, and sitting – well – you get the idea! i didn’t want to post it until i DID put photos on it, but i’m tired of staring at it, and i haven’t found the time to dig out the photos i wanted to use on it – so here it is, in all it’s unfinished glory! LOL!

it’s a pretty simple little layout, something quick and cute to scraplift if you like… i freehanded the hearts and the letters, so if you would like a scan of them so you can print it out and use it as a template to make your own, just e-mail me HERE {just click my name on the page that comes up}
and if you DO make the layout or your version of it, and DO add photos of your little monster{s}, e-mail me a copy, i’d love to see it!
