Melanie Blackburn's Profile

Hello, my name is Mélanie Blackburn and I live in beautiful Ottawa, Canada with my husband Daniel and our beautiful daughter Danika. I have been scrapbooking since April 2005 and my main source of inspiration is my family. I love everything about this hobby, from taking the perfect picture, to finding the perfect paper and preserving memories for the generations to come. Scrapbooking is a method of relaxation for me, after a hectic day at work; I look forward to having some time to myself to create. I like to capture a feeling and let my work speak for itself. I am more of a "moment" scrapper as opposed to an "event" scrapper. I would describe my style as eclectic with an accent on details. I am very passionate about this hobby and I am thrilled to be guest DT for Daisy Bucket!!! I am so proud to be part of the Daisy Bucket Team!!! My Blog: http://melblackburn.blogspot.com/

Sisterly Love

by Melanie Blackburn on March 15, 2009

I created this layout of my girls using the Merry Wishes paper collection. This collection is so versatile that it can be used on non-Christmas layouts. I’ve also used the Daisy Bucket Label stamp which I’ve stamped and then cut half. I added one half to the bottom of my page to which I put the date and extra details.

I challenge you to think outside the box and used theme papers on a non- themed layout!

Mixing Paper Collections

by Melanie Blackburn on February 12, 2009
I created this layout and combined two of my favorite Daisy Bucket paper Collections, Merry Wishes and Loves Me-Loves Me Not. Both lines work very well together. The green paper is from the Merry Wishes collection and the remaining paper is from the Loves Me Collection. Even though the Loves Me Collection is mostly love oriented I was still able to use it to create this layout of my girls and how my oldest shares her passion for books with her younger sister. Mixing paper Collections is a great way to maximize the use of your pattern paper. We would love to see how you mix the Daisy Bucket Collections, make sure to leave a comment with a link to your work.

Evidence of True Love

by Melanie Blackburn on February 10, 2009
I recently created this layout for a stamping challenge, I used stamps as embellishments on my layout. I used the Daisy Bucket #5126 stamp for the date label and the #5225 stamp for the heart and butterflies. To create the butterflies I embossed the stamp pattern with colored embossing powder, I then used a butterfly punch. Afterwards I inked the butterflies with the desired color and adhered them to my layout. I think these add a unique element to my layout. To create this layout I also used the Loves Me-Loves Me Not Collection and the Family #9001 Rub-Ons.

I would love to see what you create with your Daisy Bucket stamps, make to sure to leave a comment with a link to your creation.

Versatile Card Elements

by Melanie Blackburn on January 27, 2009

I had fun playing with the Daisy Bucket Card Elements and changing them up a bit to maximize the awesome options of these fun cards.

For this card I used the flap as a gift card holder. I adhered the flap to the inside of the card and using my Stamping Up punch (or Basic Grey Notch Tool) I created 2 slots to hold the gift card in place. To create this card I also used the Loves Me Paper Collection and the #5224 stamp.

For this card I again adhered the flap to the inside of the card and used it to highlight the sentiment of the card. Again for this card I used the Loves Me Paper Collection and the Love Ya Rub-Ons.

We would love to see how you use the Daisy Bucket Card Elements. Make sure to post your creations here.

Happy Creating!
