pialopez's Profile

I'm Pia from the Philippines : ) I'm the queen of the household where "Artists at Heart" live, namely my son, Ethan (who thinks he's a photographer and an architect in the making) and my husband, Jeff who's the "real, professional photographer and digital artist" in the family. I wanted to be a photographer too but I figured out I'm a better scrapbooker ; ) My favorite embellishments are buttons - I don't think I will ever live without them. I love bold and bright colors on my layouts too. I'm so thrilled to be designing and sharing my work with Daisy Bucket Designs! Visit me on my blog: http://shootandscrap.blogspot.com/

Pancake Art

by pialopez on October 14, 2009

Here’s My Little Monster decorating his pancake! Ethan is such an artist. While waiting for his food in restaurants, he will often doodle or take pictures using my cellphone’s camera. And when the food arrives, he sometimes re-arrange how the food was served … he really couldn’t contain the artist in him! He’s always doing something creative.

I used My Little Monsters  – Share Your Toys, Mind Your Manners and Play Nice (I love and adore the names of each paper!).

The papers from this line are so colorful and have very playful designs perfect for “our little monsters”!

Mixing and Matching Paper Lines

by pialopez on October 8, 2009

Here’s a layout I did for my friend’s niece, Julia. The moment I saw this photo I knew already what papers to use.  I have always wanted to explore the combination of yellow, purple, green and black on my layout and these colors are exactly on these lines: Posh Posies and Little Black Dress. I’m happy to be able to mix and match these two lines.

Julia

To create this layout:

1. Use a white cardstock as the base. Place a mask at left side of the layout. Spray yellow mist and remove mask. Let it dry.

2. Mat a 4″ x 6″ photo on Black Tie Affair and Dinner with Friends papers. Adhere at the bottom of the layout.

3. Cut flowers from Mod and Swanky papers. Embellish the frame with these flowers. Put buttons on each center of the flower.

4. Place title as shown.

5. Optional: Doodle lines on masked image.

Happy creating!

Happy Teacher’s Day

by pialopez on October 5, 2009

October 5 is World’s Teachers’ Day! I’d like to greet all the teachers in the world who has touched so many lives by their caring and loving hands. Happy Teachers’ Day too to my mom, my first and greatest teacher. My mom is a professional high school teacher for almost twenty five years and I’m so proud that she didn’t only made a difference in our lives but to many children as well.

Anyway, here are the cards Ethan and I made for his teachers last year (Ethan helped a little ; )

<br />

It was my first time to use this color scheme – deep red, yellow orange, light blue, white and black. I love how this turned out! The rich color of red is just right for the light blue background.

The letter “t” is a negative part of a chipboard block. Actually it’s a leftover. I painted it with black and doodled the frame.

materials used: Daisy Bucket Playful Petals – Gabby, Perfect Harmony – Hadley, Velvet Elements – Kisses and Fairy Dust, Rub ons – Words, and Paper ribbon – Strawberry.

others: chipboard alpha, white pen, cardstock, button, stamping ink

Thanks for looking!

Imagine

by pialopez on August 18, 2009

Hi everyone!

It has been awhile since I last posted here. I’m so happy to be back and creating again!

Here’s a layout I’ve just finished this afternoon (it’s hot off the press because my box just arrived today!) using Posh Posies – Groovy and Mod and Beautiful Day – Kite papers and rub ons

<br />

This is Ethan while playing with his camera (it’s a real one but we didn’t put film on it). Since he was so used to seeing his dad with his SLR camera, he pretends that his camera has an LCD screen too! Everytime he presses the shutter, he will take a look at the picture he took, although there isn’t really a screen to look at to! I love that he uses his imagination to play.

other materials used for this layout: buttons, chipboard and pen

Now, off to play with the other collections!

TFL!

White and Brown Only!

by pialopez on June 6, 2009

… not the usual color combination for a scrapbook layout? That was my initial reaction too when I received this challenge from an online contest I joined recently.

But after reading the requirements of the challenge, I knew exactly what papers and embellishments to use. I have them all with me in my stash. I feel so lucky having my Daisy Bucket papers. DBD has a number of brown papers (in different shades) and even papers that has both brown and white on it!!!

Here’s what I came up with:

<br />

To make my layout, I used white cardstock as the base. I was inspired by the circles of the Very Merry paper so I decided to cut all the brown and white circles. I then used the same circle as a pattern.

<br />

Other papers I used for this layout are:  Merry Wishes-Deck the Halls, In the Meadow-McKenna, Celeste; Sweet Marabella-Francesca, Loves Me, Loves Me Not-Pieces of my Heart. I love the loops from the Merry Wishes collection. Even though I had to handcut each loop, it was all worth it. I also love McKenna, it reminds me of animal spots and it makes me want to make a zoo layout.

The papers come from different lines as you see. Merry Wishes is a Christmas collection by the way while Loves Me, Loves Me Not is a Valentine/Love themed collection. The papers are designed so that scrappers like us will no longer have a hard time mixing and matching papers from across the lines : )

To finish off my layout, I embellished the circles and photos with rub ons (Words #9028) in brown colors, whiteVelvet flowers, and white and brown paper ribbons (Polka Dot Chocolate #7715). I added my journaling around the circles (another fun way to write the journaling) in brown ink too.

I really had creating this layout. Sometimes, it’s good to try out a different color combination, don’t you think?

Happy scrapping!

Girlfriend

by pialopez on March 26, 2009

My son already has a girlfriend? Well, that was what he told me : ) He saw this layout when I was almost done creating it and so I asked him what will be a good title (yeah, sometimes I ask for his opinions and more often than not, his ideas are better than mine hahaha!). Here’s what he said:

Ethan: Ethan’s best “ever” girlfriend”!

Me: (quite shocked) Girlfriend? But why girlfriend?

Ethan: ‘Coz she’s a “girl” mom!

Oh, ok I didn’t realize that at once : D

<br />

The photos were taken at my friend’s wedding where Ethan was the ring bearer and Ayna was the flower girl. They had an instant bond and they played all the time at the reception!

I used Daisy Bucket – Perfect Harmony and the colors were a perfect match for the photos! The border scallops were hand drawn and hand cut. I also cut the birds from Hadley paper, they’re too cute, right? I added these rub ons: caterpillar and bird from Sing (#9002).

Happy scrapping!

Sweet Choco Treats

by pialopez on February 14, 2009

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

Here’s something I made for Ethan’s teachers and classmates. It’s pretty simple and doesn’t require so much techniques. I just bought chocolate bars in 2 two sizes. I then removed the chocolate wrapper and used it as a pattern. I used mostly scraps in this project.

<br />

Ethan loved the idea of distributing the chocolates to his classmates and teachers. He got overly excited that he just gave the chocolates away, not knowing if it really belongs to them (he can’t read the names yet ; )!

<p></p>

Here are chocolates for the girls.

I used Loves Me-Loves Me Not papers and stamps for this project. I can’t get enough of the stamps from Daisy Bucket, they’re petite and works well as journaling tags, gift tags or as embellishments. I’ve never been really a stamp person (the cleaning part is what I’m avoiding actually!) but Daisy Bucket has changed the way I look at stamps!

<br />

Here are the chocolates for the boys. I used a patterned paper with the blue color. Daisy Bucket’s Love You collection is perfect for the job!

I hope you enjoy your Valentine’s day, whether you spent it on a dinner date with your boyfriend or husband or a date with the kids too! Have fun!

I fell in love …

by pialopez on February 11, 2009

… with the new Daisy Bucket Loves Me- Loves Me Not line! I love the combination of fuschia pink, orange, brown with a dash of apple green. I didn’t know these colors will match perfectly! Nothing goes into waste too since the new DBD papers including the bottom strip could also be used. I actually love those strips of papers that I remember cutting them first : )

I was inspired by Pieces of my Heart paper so I tried color blocking (this is one technique I’m not at all comfortable with because I’m bad in making exact measurements LOL!). But I love how these layouts turned out. I think I just need to practice some more.

<br />

The doodles on the photo were inspired by another paper, Scattered Love. The three photos are 4″ x 6″ in sizes and need no cropping.
